Meet Our Staff
St. Matthews UMC is composed of paid staff and many volunteers who seek to build the kingdom of God through sharing God's inclusive message of love and grace for all.
Rev. Christopher Grimes
Pastor
Pastor Chris began as Pastor at St. Matthew's July 1, 2026. He is a native of the greater Detroit area and a product of the Detroit Public Schools system. He is an alumnus of Eastern Michigan University and Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. Rev. Grimes affirms that the Church is called to embody the love of Jesus Christ in a world in need. He is committed to fostering a ministry rooted in full inclusion, where all people are welcomed, valued, and affirmed as part of God's beloved community. He values the Church as a diverse and vibrant expression of that love. Pastor Chris is married to his lovely wife, Bianca.
Kim DeSantis
Director of Administration & Operations
Kim has been a member of St. Matthew’s since 2003 and has been on staff since 2019. She has served on the Christian Education Committee for 20 years (chairing it for the past 15 years) and has been VBS Director for almost 20 years. She has been married to Todd since 1996 and together with their three children, Joey, Ben, and Rachel, have been active members of the congregation. Kim is honored to work here, serving those she worships with at St. Matthew’s.

Bob Bartkowiak
Organist/Music Coordinator
Bob Bartkowiak is the organist/music coordinator for St. Matthew's. He is responsible for providing music for Sundays and special services. He has enjoyed providing music at St. Matthews for 21 years. Bob started playing piano at a very young age. At age 13 he began playing services at St. Suzanne Church in Detroit. Married to his wife Sue for 42 years, they have one daughter, Brittany. Bob enjoys going fishing, camping, sports and music. He received his bachelor's degree in engineering from Michigan State University.

Jenny Ronayne
Church Engagement Director
Jenny Ronayne has been a member of St. Matthew’s for 15 years. She previously was on staff as the Church Life Coordinator where her focus was on the wellbeing of the members of the congregation as well as the welcome and tending of visitors. She has served on the Congregational Care Team, sang in the Chancel Choir, was a VBS leader, and was Chair of the Membership Committee. She has been married to Dan for 26 years and has two children, Derek and Caroline. She is thrilled to be back on staff at St. Matthew’s!
